The tradition of our hotel Ambergerhof goes back over eight generations of hospitality. Even back in the 14th century a farmer's son and so-called „brewing residents“ received the brewers- and bar license at the very same location where the sophisticated hotel stands today. The actual founding and rededication of the former farm to a hotel/restaurant took place in the year 1781.
„More than 60 years connects the family Amberger with Wamsler“, says Hans Amberger during our visit. „My father Franz completed his apprenticeship in the former Schottenhammel in Munich, where he used a 20-yr. old Wamsler for cooking. When he required a new oven for his parents' business in 1960, he decided on a Wamsler based on his good experience with it, and the excellent reputation of the regional producer for Wamsler.
This oven was in use for 40 years, 90 of which I used it myself, until we decided to get a new Wamsler in the year 2000. I just wanted to provide my wife, who took over the kitchen after our wedding, with an oven of the newest technical standards“, says hans Amberger. „During the disassembling of our old oven, I had them remove the enamelled logo, and keep it in my office as a reminder of the many successfurl years“.
His wife, Brigitte Amberger, was trained under the patronage of the famous chef Dieter Müller. Mullers Restaurant has had three Michelin stars since 1997, and the Gault-Millau awarded him 19,5 points. For his cookbook „Geheimnisse aus meiner Drei-Sterne-Küche“, which came out in 2000, he was the first German to receive the cookbook prize Prix la Mazille International. In 2003 he received the highest gastronomical award of the USA, the Five Star Diamond Award.
Brigitte Amberger, who is a passionate cook, and is known far beyond the region for her excellent veal roast (which should best be ordered in advance on weekends), and many other specialities. Her love for the regional cuisine is underlined with her use of fresh herbs, which grow directly outside on the terrace.
„What I like best about our oven is the easy cleaning and the excellent workmanship. The different cooking areas, also the two large cooking hobs , the powerful induction and the well-planned gas hobs allow for maximum flexibility in the preparation of my meals“, says Brigitte Amber about the wise decision of her husband.
The Amberger family decided on a two-sided range from the series Gastrotech. The main criteria for this decision were the longevity, the sold workmanship and the excellent reputation of the regional Wamsler manufacturer. „Why buy elsewhere, when the good things are produced so close by!“, says the happy gastronome about his satisfaction with Wamsler.
The Hotel Amberger Hof*** is well known, even beyond the region.
